Huatulco, officially known as Bahías de Huatulco, spans approximately 50 km of coastline in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.

This area was developed into a tourism project in the 1980s by FONATUR (National Fund for Tourism Development), aiming to create a resort town similar to Cancún.

Huatulco is unique for its commitment to low-density tourism and environmental sustainability. It is home to nine bays and over 30 beaches, offering a range of natural attractions, including coral reefs, jungles, and rivers, alongside a warm, subtropical climate.

Its development focused on preserving the natural landscape and promoting eco-friendly tourism practices.

What makes Huatulco special is its exceptional blend of stunning natural beauty and sustainable development. Unlike other Mexican resort destinations, Huatulco has prioritized environmental preservation, earning it a Green Globe International Certification.

The region’s clear, blue waters, unspoiled beaches, and lush landscapes offer a tranquil escape from busier tourist spots.

Additionally, Huatulco’s national park, Parque Nacional Huatulco, encompasses much of the area, protecting its diverse ecosystem that includes hundreds of bird species, reptiles, and mammals.

Its commitment to sustainability, combined with its cultural richness and archaeological sites, makes Huatulco a unique, eco-friendly destination for travelers.
